Our thermal cleaning process involves using heated sand particles which are fluidized using a mixture of gas and air.
The sand is heated using a ‘flame-shield’ at the bed surface: parts do not come into contact with flames.
Flame-shield on the sandbed
Though not turbulent enough to be abrasive, the sand gently rubs the surface leaving the metal completely paint-free and undamaged. Parts are subjected to an even temperature profile to minimize the risk of distortion.
The organic contaminant is thermally degraded within the sand bed. The resulting toxic gases are then oxidised at the bed surface using the ‘flameshield’. Inorganic particles are abraded by the sand particles and, blown out of the sand bed and captured in a filter system.
Parts are usually turned around in about one hour. Further more there is none of the distortion sometimes associated with pyrolysis or burn-off ovens and as no dangerous chemicals are used, problems with chemical residues leaching from the parts are completely eliminated.
